We would like to inform you that both The Australian Department of Agriculture and Water Resources (DAWR) and the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) of New Zealand have finalized the measures against the BMSB and published their pre-treatment requirements for the coming season, starting 1st of September. 

The countries affected by the new requirements are:

Australia target countries

  • France
  • Georgia
  • Germany
  • Greece
  • Hungary
  • Italy
  • Japan (heightened vessel surveillance only)
  • Romania
  • Russia
  • United States of America 

New Zealand target countries 

  • Austria
  • Bulgaria
  • France
  • Georgia
  • Germany
  • Hungary
  • Italy
  • Japan (for specification consult IHS for Vehicles, Marchinery and Equipment section 3.6 in below link)
  • Liechtenstein
  • Romania
  • Russia
  • Serbia
  • Slovenia
  • Spain
  • Switzerland
  • United States of America 

Cargo being shipped from these countries will require pre-treatment prior to loading on vessels destined for Australia and New Zealand. 

According to the authorities, the shipper/cargo owner is responsible to ensure that cargo destined for Australia and New Zealand is compliant with these requirements.

Wallenius Wilhelmsen Ocean is obligated to ask for treatment certificates for shipments to Australia and New Zealand prior to vessel’s departure. We ask for your understanding that any cargo falling under the measures without providing certificate will not be accepted for shipment.
