The MIRRAT team received exciting news this week that they have been named as a finalist of the Hutchinson Ports Environment Award at the 2017 Lloyds List Global Awards.

The Lloyd's List Global Awards celebrate the most innovative people and companies from around the globe who participate in the maritime industry. While the Environment category honours the institution, company or individual that has done the most to reduce the pollution of our environment from maritime sources.

"Being short listed for this global award is a fantastic achievement and really highlights our commitment to reducing our impact on the local environment", commented Managing Director of MIRRAT Richard Bailey.

The nomination is in recognition of the outstanding contribution the MIRRAT team have made to reducing the local environmental impact during the construction and early operation of the facility. Due to the measures implemented MIRRAT will achieve a reduction in CO2 emissions of 13,000 tonnes over its lifetime, capture and use approx. 2 million liters of rainwater per year and consume 30% less energy per year then similar conventional facilities.

MIRRAT's Head of Commercial and Stakeholder Management Jed Smith said, "This peer acknowledgement helps motivate our drive towards achieving our goal of becoming a global benchmark in sustainable terminal solutions".

This nomination strengthens MIRRAT's sustainability credentials and joins an Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia (ISCA) award for Leadership in Sustainable Infrastructure which the company achieved late last year.

MIRRAT are 1 of 6 finalists from across the globe including Dubai, Europe and the US. The award ceremony will be held in Greenwich, London on the 27th of September 2017 where the category winner will be announced.
