Wallenius Wilhelmsen Ocean (WW Ocean) in Bremerhaven arranged its 4th RoRo breakbulk seminar in May.
The main goal of these events is to increase customers’ knowledge about the breakbulk capabilities of RoRo vessels, providing insight into RoRo shipping and comparing it other shipping methods like traditional Lift-on Lift-off (LoLo) operations.

“60 customers from Germany and Austria attended the event”, says Carsten Wendt from WW Ocean’s office in Bremen.
“They were treated to a tour of the port and several external speakers spoke about different topics”, Wendt continues.
A local packaging company spoke about the importance of proper packaging to ensure safe handling, a transport insurance company gave a lecture on liability for damaged goods and a RoRo case study was presented to the participants by a survey company.

Before the tour of the port the participants was provided with technical insight and an explanation of different lashing methods. During the tour the participants got to witness lashing methods used on cargo aboard a vessel at the terminal.
The participants ended the day with a traditional Scandinavian ‘Smörgåsbord’.
