The former Head of WWL South Africa will assume responsibility for driving growth in this key market going forward.

What does your new role involve?
“The Chinese market has enormous potential, in terms of import and export opportunities, as well as the prospect of developing effective Supply Chain Management (SCM) solutions. This market is also extremely challenging and it’ll be my job to help WWL and our customers overcome these obstacles.”

How does WWL support its
customers in China?
“We already offer a complete factory-to-dealer solution, which includes four major trade lanes – the Intra-Asia and Oceania (Armacup) trades, along with the routes to and from Europe and the Americas – as well as a full range of Technical Services and SCM solutions.

What are WWL’s three main goals for China in the coming years?
“We will continue to develop innovative solutions to improve the efficiency of the supply chain in China, while making sure we’re tuned into the market and ready to take advantage of new opportunities that arise. Above all, we must ensure the consistent excellence of all our deliveries.”

How will these goals be achieved?
“Apart from the pace of change and the size of the country, China has complex regulatory structures and business practices. However, as our operations here, in terms of both the people and the company, are almost 100 per cent Chinese, I believe we’re well positioned to stay on top of both regulatory changes and market developments. We will succeed by combining WWL’s global quality mindset with all the benefits that our local presence offers us.”

What are you most looking forward to?
“China is the second-largest market for cars in the world and WWL is one of the leading logistics providers for car manufacturers globally. I’m very excited about the potential for developing our service offering here going forward.”
