We hope to raise awareness of the gap between regulation and enforcement and the consequences that has for the environment, coastal populations and responsible industry.
More than 250 global leaders will attend the summit, all with direct interests in the oceans. Among the sponsors of the summit is WWL, itself an environmental thought leader.
“The World Ocean Summit is the ideal forum to raise our environmental agendas. It is a great platform for us to exchange ideas and experiences with a broad range of stakeholders in the marine environmental field,” says Roger Strevens, Global Head of Environment at Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics.
Beyond simply sponsoring the event, WWL will have a speaking role in the shape of CEO Chris Connor.
“Chris Connor will discuss the role of robust enforcement in achieving progress on environmental issues as well as in maintaining a competitive balance,” Strevens says.
The summit will feature discussion panels, one-on-one interviews and solutions-focused working groups. Strevens sees it as a great opportunity for WWL and its customers.
”We hope to raise awareness of the gap between regulation and enforcement and the consequences that has for the environment, coastal populations and responsible industry,” he says. “ More generally, we look forward to developing new and deeper relationships around the theme of sustainability. Many of our customers face huge far- reaching environmental challenges of their own. There is a rich breeding ground for learning and innovation.”
