We are actively working to decrease the environmental impact of our activities and reduce the use of energy and natural resources per tonne kilometre. We are committed to complying with all environmental regulations and, in keeping with our frontrunner ambition, we aim to be that vital step ahead of existing and emerging requirements by implementing innovative solutions.

  • Relative CO2 emissions remain stable at 31.96 because of the continuing difficult conditions in global freight markets.
  • The overall average sulphur content of the fuel used rose 4% relative to the previous year to 1.97%.  The human impact of this result was offset by the introduction of WWL AS’ new global <0.1%S at berth policy.
  • Relative NOx emssions was 30% below baseline (1999) for the first time. The addition of 2 HERO vessels along with the recycling of the fleet’s three oldest vessels contributed to a record low of 13.83g NOx / kWh.
  • The winner of the Orcelle Award was Atlas Energy Systems, they are developing a new kind of industrial battery that can operate in portable sizes for months or years without recharging and provide emission free power for generators.
