Scope of report
This report covers Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics' environmental and social responsibility activities, beginning January 1, 2008, and ending December 31, 2008. It portrays how we rely on our company values to guide our business conduct and demonstrates our commitment to being a responsible corporate citizen.It is also an accounting of our progress in upholding the UN Global Compact’s 10 universal principles in the areas of human rights, labour standards, environment and anti-corruption.
In 2005, WWL established key performance indicators based on the guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), an independent, non-profit organisation affiliated with the U.N. Environmental Programme.
Our system for collecting and reporting social, environmental and economic performance data today does not encompass all of our operations.As we increasingly establish reporting systems to cover more of our operations, we will gradually expand the scope of reporting to include all major areas of activity. However, high levels of engagement are already evident throughout our company as exemplified by the local, regional and global initiatives reported here.
Data in this report is currently subject to internal verification. Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics recognises the importance of independent verification of data and will consider such verification in the future.
