Giving Zimbabweans the gift of sight
Shipping medical supplies and a van from the U.S. and Japan to ZimbabweSome 80,000 Zimbabweans, including infants and children, suffer from cataracts, which can be a debilitating disease and cause blindness.
Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics agreed to transport medical supplies from Utah and a vehicle donated by a major automaker to the Eyes for Zimbabwe project in the impoverished African nation. In addition to the in-kind transportation of supplies and automobile, WWL Japan staff voluntarily donated vehicle spare parts and accessories worth approximately 180,000 JPY, or $2,000 USD.
Privately funded, Eyes for Zimbabwe was established by professional golfers on the Ladies European Tour. Now in its twelfth year of operation, Eyes has helped restore sight through cataract surgery to more than 20,000 men, women and children.
