CEO message

Sustainability remains high on our agenda as does our commitment to the 10 principles of the U.N. Global Compact. We are convinced that sustainable business development is crucial for the future of our company. We believe “lean and green" go together, where a lean supply chain is also the most environmentally efficient.

2008 was a year of great challenges. There was record-high demand for our services. But by year-end, growth gave way to the global economic downturn. Through the ups and downs, we are firm in our commitment: to make operations more sustainable and more valuable to customers.

This year's WWL Environmental and Social Responsibility Report consists of three main sections:

  • Forerunner, addressing WWL's efforts to lead the way towards more sustainable shipping,
  • Cleaner, outlining with the practices we employ to minimize the impact of operations on the environment
  • Dedicated, dealing with company culture, employee personal and professional development and our involvement in social issues.

This year's report also reflects our commitment to efficiency measures. The full report is available online whilst printed copies of the summary report are distributed to a select group of external stakeholders.

We continue to focus on creating lasting value for our customers by increasing efficiencies, improving collaboration and finding cost-effective and creative solutions. In doing so, we are contributing to a more sustainable future.
