Machinery and machine tools
We carry large volumes of machinery and machine tools around the world. Often fitted with sophisticated
electronics, these loads require careful handling.

Consignments can vary from individual machine tools to full production lines or even whole factories, with sizes and
weights that may differ with each shipment. We encourage shippers to send cargo using minimal packaging. Apart from a
sturdy base, consignments are often just wrapped with plastic sheeting, which enables us to clearly see the cargo for
proper handling and stowage. This also reduces the costs for our customers. Other cargo, such as printing machines,
printing presses and machine tools, are transported in crates on roll trailers.
Handling Machinery
The size and weight of the machinery being shipped determine the type of equipment used to load, stow and discharge the cargo. We handle most machinery using standard roll trailers that have a gross capacity of up to 140 tons. For cargo weighing between 140 and 220 tons, the company uses its own specially designed Samson heavy lift trailer. We also utilise jack-up trailers that can be configured to the exact requirements of cargo that weighs in excess of 220 tons. For the heaviest cargo, we use a 16-axle jack-up trailer.Handling of cargo this way on board eliminates the risk of potential damage that is ever present during lift-on/lift-off operations.
