Supply Chain Security

In response to the increased threat of terrorism throughout the world, Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics including its subsidiary, affiliated, and operating group of companies, has implemented protective security measures to create a secure environment for our people to work in, to safeguard our customers' cargo, and to protect our owners' investments.

With the strong leadership and direction from our owners (Security policy), along with broad communication, information sharing and extensive involvement by all levels of management, Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics has implemented a holistic layered security structure for its integrated global business network. A common security policy and a supporting security guideline have been developed to establish coherent and efficient security practices to be applied across all operating companies within Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics. This policy and guideline is supported by each region and business unit and is based on the core values of the Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics to build a “security culture” by the direct involvement of all line managers and contributors, on a day to day basis.

Our fleet and terminal facilities are ISPS (International Ship and Port Security Code) certified.

Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics is a validated member of the United States’ voluntary program Customs -Trade Partners Against Terrorism (“C-TPAT”). The C-TPAT program is a joint Customs, carrier, customer initiative to establish security standards and practices throughout the supply chain. The WWL Group C-TPAT Status Verification Interface (SVI) code is walSea01198, which can be used by our C-TPAT partners in accessing the U.S. Customs and Border Protection on-line database.

Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics' Security Policy is based on the following overriding principles:

  • Awareness
Personnel must continually be aware of their environment in which they operate in an attempt to prevent acts that threaten security.
  • Prevention
Measures that are designed to increase the difficulty of unauthorized access and prevent the introduction of prohibited or unauthorized personnel, cargoes or weapons.
  • Response
Preparation of personnel to act upon unusual observations, a threat or incident compromising the security of persons, the facility, cargo or vessels.
  • Consequence Management
The ability to appropriately and quickly respond to a threatened or actual security incident in order to mitigate the consequences of any such act.

Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics continues to be on the forefront of Security, and is continuously working with its customers and local government authorities to ensure the safety and security of our global supply chain. Security is a critical component of our operational excellence. Security is a shared responsibility of all parties within the supply chain.
