The first of WWL’s High Efficiency RoRo (HERO) vessels made its maiden call to the Spanish port of Santander on 25 March. Christened earlier this year, the Thermopylae has since been joined by the Thalatta, raising the number of vessels in the company’s Post-Panamax fleet that showcase a variety of emission reducing features.

Gathered on the bridge of the Thermopylae were customers, suppliers, stevedore representatives, operational sub-agents and WWL Commercial team members. The Port Authority of Santander presented a plaque to the Master of the Thermopylae, Captain J.M. Gode, to commemorate its first call to the port.

“Customers were delighted to gain access to the new ship and were very impressed,” says Dora Homs A., Head of Auto and H&H and Customer Care Manager at WWL Spain. “They were amazed by the explanation that Captain Gode gave on her innovative environmental features.”
