The 2011 Castor Green Competition was designed to inspire the innovative minds of WWL’s employees to find solutions to help WWL achieve its environmental targets, exemplified by the Castor Green Terminal concept.

Many ideas were received and nine sites participated in the competition. Their ideas included a power generator using vertical-axis wind turbines, a solar-powered charge solution for use across the sites, an innovative rain-capturing mechanism, as well as a “simple” suggestion for sites to use ice scrapers instead of idling cars during the winter months.

The five winning teams earned themselves a USD 1,500 cash prize, as well as a grant to implement the solution at their site.
