This new car park will greatly increase our storage capacity and allow for further growth of import vehicles from other locations.
The expansion comes in the form of a new five-level multistory car park for 2,500 cars, which will be the fifth of its kind operated by WWL at its Southampton terminal, increasing the total storage capacity to about 10,800 cars. The new car park will be dedicated to the storage and processing of the 95,000 factory newcars that arrive every year from the US and Germany. Prior to distribution directly to dealerships in the UK, WWL will also provide light vehicle enhancement services.“This new car park will greatly increase our storage capacity and allow for further growth of import vehicles from other locations,” says Mark Bookham, Managing Director Wallenius Wilhelmsen Terminals UK.
“The geographical proximity of Southampton to the major car dealerships in the south of England has enabled manufacturers to distribute their vehicles in a more cost-efficient and environmentally friendly manner, not to mention reducing time to market and achieving much greater load utilisation on their trucks by mixing the models carried. We hope that this new structure will create further opportunities and enhance our longstanding reputation for quality handling and terminal processing.
