Last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India proclaimed,

“I want to appeal to all the people the world over, from the ramparts of the Red Fort, come make in India; come manufacture in India. Sell in any country of the world, but manufacture here.”

Auto manufacturers seem to have heeded his call.

Exports of light motor vehicles, two wheelers, truck and buses manufactured in India have steadily grown over the past 15 years, with Indian factories exporting some 3.5 million of such vehicles in 2014. For commercial vehicles alone, the country exported 60,000 last year. The need for logistics services closer to export port has never been stronger.

WWL India is supporting this growth with the establishment of a new pre-delivery inspection (PDI) and storage yard facility within a customs bonded area close to Mumbai port. Only four kilometers from the port, the new facility is the first such storage and PDI centre there. It is equipped to carry out a range of storage and processing services, and undertaking these services closer to the port provides customers with greater predictability, shortened and simplified supply-chain and better quality for both export and import vehicles.
