The terminal was constructed using more than 200,000 tonnes of recycled concrete, brick and glass and is aiming to achieve a Greenstar rating of ‘5 Stars’ for the buildings and an Infrastructure Council of Australia accreditation of ‘Excellent’ for the overall construction.

Some of the terminal’s current features include 4,800 automotive laydown bays, 20,000 square metres of heavy-duty hardstand, two wash bays, a 120-tonne gantry crane and dedicated inspection zones. Other services MIRRAT will offer include a truck staging area, direct Pre-Delivery Inspection facility access and a Vehicle Booking System for cargo delivery and collection through the MIRRAT website. In 2018, the facility will expand to encompass three vessel wharves and an additional laydown area.
